The Fellowship of Catholic Scholars invites paper proposals for the disciplinary breakout sessions
of the upcoming annual convention. The convention theme this year is Person and Word:
Words, both spoken and written, mark human persons, each of whom has been created in
the image of the Divine Word, who was made flesh and dwelt among us. Today, owing to
increasing educational options and ever-advancing technologies, human persons and their
use of words face opportunities and threats of a degree never encountered before. Are we up
to the challenge? Have we adequately grappled with this brave new world of the human
word?
Confirmed speakers include Reinhard Hütter, James Matthew Wilson, Andrew Seeley, Charlie Camosy, Margaret (Meg) Chisolm, Joe Davis, Michael Gorman, Veronica Ogle, and Amy Richards.
While we welcome papers on any topic, preference will be given to papers that contemplate the opportunities and threats that we face when it comes to the human person, human language, and the use of the spoken and written word.
Papers may be considered for peer-reviewed publication in the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars Quarterly.
